TLOK wins a category at Daytime Emmys and mention of Korra panel at SDCC
Posted by Icy_Ashford on June 18th, 2013 @ 7:55 AM EST (703)

As mentioned in this post, The Legend of Korra was nominated in 3 categories for the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards. Mike & Bryan attended the ceremony recently and Bryan was proud to announce that The Legend of Korra won for "Outstanding Casting For An Animated Series or Special". Congratulations to Shannon Reed, Sarah Noonan, and Gene Vassilaros for their hard work!

In addition to that, Bryan also said that Mike will be attending a panel on June 26th at Barnes & Noble at the Grove in Los Angeles and hinted that there would be a The Legend of a Korra panel at SDCC 2013 next month. These are his words as quoted from his blog: "Speaking of panels, we are getting everything ready for San Diego Comic-Con, which is only a month away. In typical fashion, I’m not allowed to announce any specifics yet but I will say that we have a lot planned over more than one day, so hopefully those of you in attendance will be able to take part in one or more of our things that I’m not allowed to announce! Looking forward to seeing (many of) you there!"

Fingers crossed that we'll hear some news about SDCC some time this month! Let's all be patient. After all, good things come to those who wait.
The Legend of Korra Book Two sneak peek!

The Legend of Korra Book Two sneak peek
IGN has recently released a video titled "The Legend of Korra - First Book 2 Footage".

The video has Noah and Gabby, two presenters, who go behind the scenes at Nickelodeon Animation Studios where they meet Mike and Bryan. Both hosts ask what Korra would be facing in Book Two and what spirits she would be meeting. Bryan then gives an overview of Book Two where he says "Korra has a whole new realm which she has to battle and master." Mike reveals "spirits can take different forms like creature spirits as well as light & dark spirits."

Throughout the whole behind the scenes when they're talking, four very brief scenes from the latest book were shown and the summary of each scene is written below:

Scene One - Korra is in a cave and attempting to punch a floor of ice with airbending.

Scene Two - Korra is out in the snow without her coat and she fights a humanoid spirit with a glowy face that resembles a mask. The spirit manages to subdue Korra by grabbing her arms and pinning the girl against a cliff wall. Korra struggles to break free but there's a look of defeat on her face when she fails.

Scene Three - Korra hears the roar of an unknown creature and she gasps. It looks like she is in the cave from scene one and the area around her glows brightly.

Scene Four - Two Water Tribe citizens are by a fountain in what appears to be inside the city. We don't know if the city featured is in the Northern Water Tribe or the Southern Water Tribe. A dark fish-like spirit storms into the fountain area, towering over the two civilians as they scream and run away.

At the end of the video, Mike & Bryan show the hosts and the audience a sneak peek action clip of Korra and Mako out in a snow storm battling a few spirits. The screenshot attached to this post is from this scene. Korra tries to freeze a spirit with airbending but the spirit is unfazed and pounces on the Avatar. Book Two looks interesting so far and let's hope we get a release date soon!

The Search - Part 3 announced
Posted by Icy_Ashford on May 16th, 2013 @ 10:06 AM EST (700)

The Search Part 3 cover
Dark Horse recently released the cover art for The Search Part 3 and the release date of 30th October 2013.

This is a description of what this part has in store:

"Avatar Aang travels to the spirit world to parley with an ancient power, bringing Fire Lord Zuko ever closer to discovering the truth about his mother’s fate—and his own past.

Yet Zuko’s sister Azula is becoming increasingly dangerous, threatening to ruin everything that Zuko, Aang, Katara, and Sokka have struggled to achieve on their search!"

Sounds interesting but I think the question on everybody's minds is whether Zuko finally reunites with Ursa or would they leave us another cliffhanger again? I hope not. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best in October!
